Well you have probably heard the news that Jewellery owned by Elizabeth Taylor has broken auction records! According to reports this famous collection fetched $116,000,00 !! That’s more than double the record for a single collection and setting new marks for pearls, colourless diamonds and Indian jewels.

The grand sale at Christie’s of 80 items from Taylor’s collection had been estimated to raise about a ‘mere’ $20 million, but everything from her famous 33-carat diamond ring, the famous gift from her former husband Richard Burton, to her charm bracelets all sold for many times their estimates. Demand was high… makes you wonder if there are too many idle rich but I suspect they are investments rather than personal gifts.

Pearls Pearls Pearls! A Necklace of Pearls.

Freshwater Pearl Necklaces:
The stylish and classy amongst us typically intensify their modern outfits with pearl jewellery. Afterall pearls are precious and so will make you feel precious! However it is no longer the sole right to those with high incomes or friends within the business freshwater pearls.

These days most people can afford pearl jewellery as freshwater pearl prices are very reasonable now… Here are some recommendations on incorporating pearl bracelets, earrings and accessories into your everyday look.

>> Check out the Signature Collection by Elise (UK Jewellery Designer) <<

You can create your own simple pearl necklace (or matching bracelet) with freshwater pearls these days. There is no explicit talent or ability needed. Of course you need to source and buy loose pearls but these are obtainable online. So you’ll quickly and economically craft a necklace or bracelet to complement your look.

Don’t be afraid to combine pearls pearls pearls jewellery with different gems and colours – it’s all the rage these days. Simply keep in mind that pearls create their own statement so choose gems or pieces that do not compete with the precious pearls – they like to be the star of the show. If you would like pearl jewellery to be your signature, keep the design recent by accessorising with other gems and stones – add silver clasps too. Use freshwater pearls in varied shades and shapes to replicate your mood or complement your outfit. Y

ou’ll be amazed at the shapes and colours of pearls these days – the classic ‘opera’ length necklace is still good to go – but adding gems to spice things up is much more interesting for less formal settings. Adding a charm, pendant or amulet to the pearl necklace will personalises it. Keeping the necklace and pendant as separate itesm mean you can “mix-n-match”. You’ll soon see these are smart conversation items. Curiosity will soon get to your acquaintances and strangers. It helps you connect with others at parties and gatherings.

If your outfit is especially casual, sporting a shoelace charm with the pearls is very vogue right now. If you’re thinking that you are waering an excessive amount of pearl jewellery, or an excessive amount of jewelery generally, subtract one piece at a time till it’s right. Sometime less is more with pearls.

For a special event or a formal evening out, pearls are the eye-catching one to wear especially when paired with glittering gems such as Amethyst, Crystal and Quartz. Single or multi-strand necklaces with contrasting coloured pearls or spiral wraps are elegant. (Here’s a Multi-Strand Choker Pearl Necklace).

Now you have a look – a quick word about caring for pearls: Never use regular jewellery cleaner on soft porous stones like pearls. A wipe with a damp non-abrsive cloth is sufficient – keep away for perfumes or make-up and store in a soft ‘velvet’ bag. If you look after your pearl jewelery, it’ll last forever. Store it in a cool dark place.

Pearl Jewellery Is The Best Gift For A Woman

If you are looking for a gift this year for a female friend, family member or other your half, then one of the best gifts to buy is jewellery.

The gift of beautiful jewellery and accessories to someone you care about is still a statement of love. There is a wide range of pearl jewellery available so you can always find a style to meet your girlfriend’s needs. And unlike clothing that can go out of fashion, jewellery can last a lifetime if looked after.

Trends in Pearl Jewellery

Of course, there are actually fashion trends in the jewellery too, and this year is no different. Many styles will be great for the winter of 2011. The trend appears to be towrds large, colorful and in your face statement pieces like brash cocktail rings, chunky necklaces, bejewelled collars and huge statement earrings. Fashion accessories will also be part of every day costume jewellery. Bohem’ Chic is back, with beaded accessories. Mixing and matching materials with pearls and gems will be popular using natural products like wood and feathers and a variety of colored beads to add a personal touch.

In addition to bold statement pieces, the natural look is back in a big way, especially with clothes reflecting a return to the 70′s. We think (and hope) that pearls will be seen more than ever in fashion. There will be a blur between pearl jewellery for formal or casual as we appreciate that pearls are not alwasy for classy events and that they always look great.  Pearl jewellery designers will produce a real mix of classic and modern designs using  pearls and coloured gems.

Buying Jewellery Gifts

If you’re buying gifts for women, then pearl jewelry is definitely the way to go! Pearls are truly magical gift, a gift of love. The gift can be seasonal or something a bit more expensive to last a lifetime. And trends in jewellery are often repeated a lot faster than clothes are. Give a gift that can be enjoyed for years.
